This modern version borrows the look but benefits greatly from modern technology. The aluminum alloy  frame, alloy rims with stainless steel spokes and other components make it lighter and stronger than the old bikes ever were.
At 33 lbs it's no road racer but it's lighter than many mountain bikes. The Shimano Nexus 3-speed hub with twist grip shifter & high quality bearings throughout give a very smooth ride and easy pedaling.
